We called to see if I need to wait the hour or if I can be seen now, and they wouldn’t tell us. They said I need to come in to ask. What. A. Fucking. Farce.

We drove two hours, they didn’t follow the agreed upon procedure for picking up the barium, and now they won’t answer our questions. #uofmhealth leaves a LOT to be desired.

Apparently there were some strong feelings among at least a few 19th century gentlemen-chemists as to whether "barium" was really deserving of its heaviest-of-all-metals name.

"Plutonium" was even proposed as an alternative—though, from what I can tell, this effort didn't go anywhere, and "plutonium" (which, honestly, is way cooler than "barium" as names go) remained on the shelf for another century or so.
