I was waiting somewhere yesterday and I noticed this #Bronze #Sculpture next to me, which looked sort of familiar. So, I looked around for a notice and by the side it said this was by the #Sculptor #BarbaraHepworth and was made in #1964. Now, Hepworth lived in #StIves in #Cornwall but she was born and educated in #Wakefield, #WestYorkshire, which happens to be where I grew up for much of my childhood. Quite a coincidence. It’s a small world.

This week a set from July's trip to Aldeburgh, starting with this shot on a gloomy day from #SnapeMaltings of #BarbaraHepworth 's Family of Man: Ancestor I, Ancestor II, and Parent I - one of her last works.

The news I have been reading online has upset me, so I am finding tranquillity in looking at pictures of Barbara Hepworth sculptures.

If anything ever happens to (what I think is) the last major department store on Oxford Street, I hope this lovely thing survives…

The elegant curves of Barbara Hepworth's sculpture really appeal to me.

I think I'm right in saying that her works are popular with the wider public in the UK and beyond. Perhaps viewers recognize that her unification ofthe vaguely biomorphic shape with the unambiguously modern is so appropriate for our era.

I'm sorry to say that I have not actually seen this 1951-1952 work, "Image". Is it in Tate Modern at London or at St Ives?

Thrill me, hide me, restore me: what can we learn about artists from their gardens?

From the spectacular Tarot Garden Niki de Saint Phalle built in Tuscany to Barbara Hepworth’s sculpture oasis in St Ives, artists’ green spaces are about so much more than plants and pruning

Final chapter in this #London sculptures walk: #BarbaraHepworth Figure (Nyanga) at #TateModern

Barbara Hepworth didn’t just make sculptures. She is famous for drawings, too. Her most famous drawings are of surgeons at work, focusing on their hands, after her daughter was in hospital in 1944. She befriended a surgeon, who allowed her to watch surgeons at work, after which she produced about 80 drawings.
