UK Television viewers with a newish smart TV.
My old dad has had message come up on his TV about BARB viewing figures and how his viewing habits are being used to help with recording viewing figures and he can opt out by clicking on the appropriate option.

He had been telling us he was getting a strange message and I suggested he take a photo and let us see it. So he did.
I couldn't read the whole message but it mention #barb

Anyone else had this happen on their telly?

Despite opting out of having my TV "monitored" by #Barb (whoever they are) they keep turning it on. So opting out is just an illusion. Probably illegal but hey who is going to stop them?

This surveillance system wasn't mentioned in the #Samsung advert.

Build A Rocket Boy Confirms Redundancy Process Following MindsEye Launch

Build A Rocket Boy Redundancies: The Edinburgh-based studio behind the recently released action-adventure game MindsEye, has confirmed it is undertaking a process of internal changes that will likely result in redundancies. The news comes just two weeks after the high-profile launch of the studio’s debut title.

In a statement provided to several games industry publications, including GamesIndustry.biz and IGN, the company confirmed it has “had to make the painful decision to notify our hardworking team of some internal changes.”

While the studio has not confirmed the exact number of roles at risk, reports from sources suggest the move could impact over 100 employees, as the company has initiated the 45-day consultation process required under UK law when proposing 100 or more redundancies.

In its official statement, Build A Rocket Boy elaborated on the decision: “While we are working to reassign roles for as many of those impacted by these changes as possible, sadly we are initiating a formal consultation process that may result in redundancies. This decision has not been made lightly, and we are committed to handling this process with transparency, fairness, and respect for all employees.”

The studio also linked the changes to the future development of its debut game, adding that the shift “allows us to focus on delivering ongoing updates and performance optimization for MindsEye, while also ensuring the long-term success of Build A Rocket Boy’s future ambitions.”

MindsEye has suffered – in my opinion quite unfairly – at the hands of the online games community, with savage reviews, multiple content creators lambasting the game and the studio, and multiple refund requests impacting the launch of the game and early reactions to a hugely ambitious project.

This is undoubtedly difficult news for the talented team at Build A Rocket Boy and for the wider Scottish games community. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this announcement.
