I'm not going to just discount it outright, Hogan knows how to win in Maryland as a Republican. However, the cross tabs really don't make sense when you look at the fundamentals of the last two election cycles.
It feels more narrative driven and to get people to pay attention to these polls more than actually based in good statistics.
So, a new poll dropped on the US Senate race in Maryland that shows the leading GOP candidate, former Governor Larry Hogan, leading either of the two leading Democratic candidates polling over 50%.
It's from the Baltimore Sun and the local Fox affiliate. Here are the party affiliation cross-tabs: 600 D, 451 R, 241 Unaffiliated
For reference, in 2020 and 2022, here's the breakdown of voters by party affiliation: 2.2M D, 1M R, 0.5-0.6M Unaffiliated voters.
Something seems off about this poll. Way over estimates GOPers. It doesn't square with the reality of the last 2 election cycles.
