Michael Labowicz@europe i went out on a bike ride in the countryside near #Ballincollig to enjoy the sun and fall weather, but got caught in a bit of rain. Still enjoyed the ride and got in a good workout.

It’s sometimes hard to believe there was a gunpowder mill in this area, but look around and you’ll see the ruins everywhere. Here though, I found a winding, worn path running parallel to the neat tarmac of the modern path.

CLondoner92 (New Account)The Emerging Preferred Route (EPR) for #Luas #Cork – an 18km light rail line in #Ireland from #Ballincollig to Mahon Point with up to 25 stops – has been launched and is now open for public consultation until Monday 9th June at 5.30pm. The proposed route connects key locations including MTU, CUH, UCC, Cork city centre, Kent Station, the Docklands, and Mahon. Plans include a new public #transport bridge, cycling infrastructure, a 1,000-space Park & Ride in Ballincollig, and a #Mobility Hub in Mahon. Luas Cork supports Ireland’s fastest-growing city, expected to grow by 50–60% over the next 20 years, by improving public transport, reducing car dependency, and cutting emissions. As one of Europe’s first climate-neutral cities, Cork’s transformation is key to national and #EU climate goals. The public is encouraged to take part in the consultation and help shape this major infrastructure project.

A fork in the forest
The path forks around one of the ruins of the gunpowder mill in Ballincollig Regional Park, Cork. Everything is overgrown, but access is easy. Trees grow inside the building too.
