DAY 124 My buddy was back! Rejoice! But she’ll only be around up to summer before pausing her education, silly girl managed to get herself pregnant (yay!). DAY 123 Started with a written test, went okay not more. Made a list of the things I had issues with so I can read up on it. Then there was the mousse cake feedback, I did better than expected. I had the best glaze of the class! I also know what I need to work on. Then we started with the tartlets. My buddy wasn’t in class and she’s my favorite to work with, it’s easy to get things done and it feels like she’s the only one working sometimes. #Baking #BakerySchool #BecomingABaker
DAY 122 Third and last day of the mousse test. Same attitude as yesterday and it went okay. I know what I need to work on but the cake was pretty nice at the end so, not too bad. We’ll get feedback tomorrow and get to taste the cakes as well. #BecomingABaker #BakerySchool #Baking
DAY 121 Second day of mousse test. I accepted that it would be bad so I was not stressed out. It went okay, we did a mousse and a glaze and put the cake together. Glaze and decorate it tomorrow. I’m not getting top marks on this one but it is what it is. Intense week with tests every day except for Thursday… a bit much but I will know what I need to practice more at the end of it and it’s good to do all the moment on your own so you know where you’re at. #Baking #BakerySchool #BecomingABaker
DAY 120 I survived today’s laminated test. I made a few mistakes but I feel I will get the hang of this. I know what I did wrong and I will do better next time. One more test on this when we bake everything off next week. Didn’t ace it but I feel good about it despite the errors… well maybe not good but better than the mousse test. #Baking #BakerySchool #BecomingABaker
DAY 118-119 Yesterday was the 1th day of the mousse tests & it didn’t go great. My brain stopped working, I had my period & took some pills for it, got stressed out, got a bowl in the face & started bleeding & miscalculated the gelatin in the pannacotta. Not my best, ugh. The laminated dough test is in smaller groups so half of the class was off today & I went to my next work place, no red flags. Prepping for laminating tomorrow. DAY 116-117 (2 of 2) Today we did the dough and I think I did okay too. Ms Pantsless made a dough that looked like a sponge cake mix, no idea how that happened… pretty impressive. Tomorrow we are starting to prep for mousse cake... #Baking #BakerySchool #BecomingABaker
DAY 116-117 (1 of 2) Totally forgot everything yesterday after I got back from school, test on mon, tues, wed and fri this week and same next week I think so I’m a mess. Great to be back in school and see everyone. Test started right away, prepping butter for laminating dough. Not that much too it, think I did okay. #BakerySchool #BecomingABaker #Baking
DAY 115 (part 2/2) I don’t know. Emotionally a little all over the place. My brother said I should have networked more and asked people for numbers or social media stuff as it could help for future jobs. I’m not good at social stuff. I feel a bit down. #Bakery #BakerySchool #BecomingABaker
DAY 115 (Part 1/2)Last day of work experience for this time. Mixed emotions. Fun to try some new things back in school but scared of the test. Then it’s off to a new bakery and I kind of feel like a fraud, like I don’t know anything and I’m just a walking disappointment. I’m off to a bakery where a classmate of mine spent his two WE periods, and he’s good. I guess I can ask him for pointers on what to expect. #Baking #BecomingABaker #BakerySchool
