While one can understand why #Councils want to recover debts, given their parlous financial state in the current funding climate, the use of #bailiffs to (often violently) extract payments (in cash or in kind) seems like the final straw for meaningful local #democracy.

The poor & vulnerable once again find themselves at the sharp end; not only have councils cut & ended all sorts of social services, now the poor (those services' likely clients) are further abused!
