There's a declining maple tree in the yard that was hosting #woodpeckers. Unfortunately, their diligent home building weakened this junction, and a storm toppled that whole section. I hope they are doing okay without their shelter. The marks are fascinating! #BackyardHabitat

An experience of biodiversity connectiveness- A society of house sparrows lived near by, centering on a nest hole in a neighbor's garage. That garage got repaired and now the sparrows are gone. It's noticeably more quiet. Even the other birds aren't around as much, which was a surprise to me.

I'm also seeing more caterpillars. Like this fluff ball (ID says tiger moth) on a nightshade weed I was removing. I guess I'll leave the spot as is for a bit longer. #insects #BackyardHabitat #pollinators
