Completed baby cardigans: 7!
Current baby cardigans: 0!!
But I have a feeling the habit will resurface again in future.

Is this baby cardi number 5? No! It is number 6. Number 5 is my bedtime knitting (pale yarn = workable by candlelight) and 3ply besides, and is therefore progressing more slowly.
This one progressed more rapidly due to the short sleeves. The ball band says the colour is "fossil". Looks more like porridge to me, but I'm no palaeontologist, so what do I know?
Pattern is the 4ply Beyond Puerperium by Kelly van Niekerk.

The baby cardi habit is growing on me. I now have *two* Garter Yoke Baby Cardis on my needles - one in a vivid purple 4ply crepe, and one in a super-soft white 3ply merino.
Annoyingly, I have very few suitable stitch markers for fine needles - the photo shows my favourite, of which I have two - and most of what's available here in NZ is either plastic or big and dangly in an unhelpful way. (Or snaggy.)
Side note: why do NZ retailers all sell the same handful of products as each other? It's the same with fountain pens - not many companies sell them, but they all seem to stock endless Lamys.

I knitted a Puerperium baby cardy (from Kiwi designer Kelly Brooker/van Niekerk) to try to kick the Garter Yoke Baby Cardi habit. And then I cast on another Garter Yoke Baby Cardi.
I think the symmetry of the GYBC is easier on my brain - but I'm told the Puerperium's lack of symmetry makes it easier to get on a baby, so I'll keep it in the mix for the future.
