A new threat to global shipping as Yemen's Houthis threaten to close vital Bab el-Mandeb Strait http://newsfeed.facilit8.network/TRckZV #Yemen #Houthis #BabElMandeb #ShippingThreat #GlobalShipping

@rom255 that is NOT only talk. Houthis CAN and they ARE effectively closing it.

The US ships sent to conduct a crossing, because show we could had VERY interesting after-action-reps.

Hmm, the Houthis in Yemen 🇾🇪 announced they want to support Iran 🇮🇷 by closing down the Bab El-Mandeb strait. Basically the passage from and to the Suez Canal. World economy RIP.

Interesting that #Iran's proxies in #Yemen haven't resumed attacking the #Bab-el-Mandeb?

>> #Somaliland's coast is facing the southern coast of #Yemen, in the other side of the #GulfOFAden. The Red Sea starts further north, in the #BabElMandeb.

Thanks! In #MENA politics, it is both. That's why #HornOfAfrica is a flashpoint while #Houthi terrorize Red Sea shipping.

Ethiopia HAD access to Red Sea, but no more. But, you are right, I could have phrased this better: "gain access to the #RedSea that Ethiopia lost when part of its own territory broke away as #Eritrea."

> It’s the key to the control of almost all shipping between the #IndianOcean and the #MediterraneanSea via the #SuezCanal. Recent drone attacks on commercial shipping in the Bab el Mandeb by Yemen-based Houthi forces have prompted a coalition led by the United States to launch military strikes against targets controlled by the militants.

Unlike #Ukraine there are no #NuclearPlants to worry about in #Yemen or #Djibouti (or #Ethiopia or #Somalia , a useful port like DjiboutiCity could probably help a much wider area) but #India and #China have #NuclearWeapons and a war staring around #BabElMandeb would be just as worrisome as the #Ukranian war of #Financial and #Russian #Invasions.
'.. the only #Japanese #military base in the entire world is.. in Djibouti City.. #France – in its capacity as former colonial power, it is omnipotently present and hosts both #German and #Spanish forces. #italy has its own base, while the US have been there for roughly 18 years.. '

After reading a #MediaLens article about #Ukraine it's hard not to think of #Yemen too. Could #BabElMandeb be the next worse crisis? Even more countries involved in a confrontation?
