Een verzoek voor een referendum over een boycot van Israël moet de Amsterdamse gemeenteraad niet inwilligen, adviseert de referendumcommissie.
Burgercollectief Amsterdam Palestina Referendum diende een verzoek in bij de gemeenteraad voor een Amsterdamse boycot van Israël. Het collectief eist onder meer dat de gemeente alle banden verbreekt met Israëlische instellingen en bedrijven, Israëlische lobbyclubs en instellingen ‘die medeplichtig zijn aan schendingen van mensenrechten door Israël’. Ook wil het dat de gemeenteraad officieel erkent dat Israël misdaden tegen de menselijkheid pleegt jegens Palestijnen.

Given the continued reporting about the upcoming world cup hosted predominantly by the US. I will not be watching any of the games. The world cup used to stand for inclusivity and diversity. This is no longer true.
