@ascentale @xtaran @bikenite A3. Two bikes, 2x11 on one 3x7 on the other.

For the 2x11, I ride mainly in the 50t in front and frequently shift the cassette on the flats and down hill. Uphill and upwind, I drop to the 34t and also frequently shift the cassette . I currently run 11-32 in the rear. There is not much overlap, so I have to shift both front and several in the rear.

For the 3x7. I don’t use the little gear. I’m rebuilding this bike for 2x10, with 48-32 and probably a 11-32 cassette.

I ride both bike the same, trying to keep my cadence between 80-90. #BikeNite

#BikeNite A4 I quit wearing a helmet (for urban cycling) over a decade ago and have not needed to worry about it.

Caught up with the TV coverage of the stage of Tirenno Adriatico I was at. Opening shot of Eurosport Broadcast - did a double take; that's me underneath the LIVIGNO sign in the black cycling top with horizontal stripes and white helmet.

Fame at last!

I am ashamed to say I was deep in a telephone discussion with HMRC at the time

When I fall,
When the inside comfort foam starts to go manky,
When I see a nice one on special offer,
When, once, I dropped my helmet and it fell / bounced down two flights of concrete stairs

2x11 on two road bikes, 1x11 on steel winter, 2x10 on hybrid shopper.

Cos I am an info geek and gadget fan I can find this rubbish out from EPS unit and Garmin

Last long ride 53 38 up front 11 26 at back.

Used all gears except 53 11, and 39 11&12

Longest in one gear 15pct of time 53 16

7pct of time in 38 26 easiest gear - Tuscany is hilly

I tend to try and stick between 85 and 95 rpm so the gears get flipped regularly.

@ascentale @SRLevine @bikenite #BikeNite A4: I planned to replace my bicycle helmet after 5 years. When my gut feeling said that the five years have passed and some of the upholstery started to no more stick that well to the inside of the helmet, I checked the manufacturing date and was surprised that the helmet was just like 3 years old. I replaced it nevertheless and stored the old one at my parents in case I forgot to bring my current one and want to go cycling there.
@genex @ascentale @edd @bikenite I would estimate I lose something like 2 PSI per week. On a mountain bike where I run low pressures (~25 PSI) I top up the tires once a week. On a commuter bike where exact tire pressure is less critical I inflate to ~40 PSI and top up about every 3 weeks. #bikenite

@ascentale @bikenite

A8. I did a full drivetrain swap on the commuter, from a SRAM Apex 1 to Deore 1x11. Including hubs and brake levers, it's now all Deore except the purple disc calipers.

Maiden ride is tomorrow -- fingers crossed!

@Karen5Lund @ascentale @SRLevine @bikenite That would be the case, yes, as UV will dry out the plastic and make it brittle.

@ascentale @bikemonterey @bikenite #BikeNite A1: Posting from Zurich, Switzerland. I usually wear narrow, yellow fluorescent and reflective ankle bands (by Wowow) so that my jeans don't get dirty on the chain and for better visibilty.

But I only wear them with long trousers. I though also have quite colorful (often yellow fluorescent) socks or socks with reflective stripes woven in at ankle height.

On some shoes I applied silver or black reflective textile stickers from https://reflective.berlin/
