An old player reached out to me over the weekend. During our chat he brought up that time his thief rolled a nat 1 (99 on percentile, actually!) on a "move silently" check inside a hobgoblin lair (BECMI, "Keep on the Borderlands").

I laughed and said, "I made a YouTube video about that!"

A "Memorable" #ttrpg session isn't always the same as a "Successful" one. :-)

In this true table story, a group of first-level D&D adventurers plan a stealth mission into a hobgoblin lair. What follows is an epic failure in the most memorable way. It's a perfect example of why the chaos of bad dice rolls create the most unforgettable moments in tabletop RPGs.

Can failure in your D&D game be more fun than success?

My next video drops tomorrow (THU Feb 11) where I describe a table-top D&D game that went horribly wrong in the most memorable way.

Stay tuned.

Has been a challenging week at work, doom is oozing from my device, whenever i‘m checking the news, and it‘s grey and dark outside - but ten minutes from now, friends will show up at my place, we will have pizza an Grauburgunder wine and play some #basicdnd 🙃

Will run #BECMI #dnd for newbies tomorrow. Excited. Already ran a #ttrpg session for them a few weeks ago and now they want MORE. I chose Basic DnD since they love Stranger Things and seem to be excited about engaging with the 80s version of the game. #osr
Busy day! Attended an event of the democratic socialist party (die Linke) on homelessness and the housing crisis in our region.
Later on I ran a rowdy session of #BECMI #dnd for my 10-years-old kid and his friend which mostly centered around them yelling at me („Retreat! No! Yes! Throw the torch!“ ). My kid‘s 1st level Thief was eaten by a monster 10 minutes into the game 😆 Now: movie night (Star Wars) and Fries for all of us. #osr
