You can save time as well as lower the risk of theft by bringing your (cargo) bike into big box stores instead of locking up outside. However, expect to then lose all of that saved time when the guy at the checkout wants to excitedly tell you about his mountainbike build that used the same motor you have (in my case, a Bafang #BBS02). #BikeTooter
Riding #eBikes with the kid on the #LittleBigOrangeBike with 20in bafang "fatbike" geared hub motor + 350W controller and me on the #edgeRunner with 750W #bbs02 10sp 11-42t, kid having newer battery but that hardly matters since that controller peaks at ~600W and will only sustain 550W for a few minutes, which roughly matches the performance of my 10yo battery. Me on xtracycle = 300lb at least, her on rei bike = 180 maybe. Kid leaves me in the dust on all but the steepest hills. #bikeTooter
The #bbs02 motor on my #xtracycle edgerunner is drooping, the nut won't tighten (what wrench can really grip that 4-notched nut?) or even loosen, with anything I could manage to do to it while spouse waited to ride to dinner, but it's really not practical to expect the friction of a compressed bottom-bracket shell to resist the vibration and impact twisting of the motor weight vs every bump you hit. I ended up with a bit of paracord on it, and stuffed a shim in just to keep it from wiggling. ๐Ÿซค

@julescelt01 I installed a #Bafang #BBS02 mid-drive kit from #LunaCycle a couple years ago on a beach cruiser, and I've been very happy with it. It was super easy, and the 52v battery makes tons of power. I recommend getting the shift sensor which cuts the power when you shift gears.

Bafang BBS02 Mid Drive eBike KIT

Get the Bafang BBS02 for only $525 and transform any bicycle into an electric beast. Do up to 30mph and use the gears of your bike to shift into low and climb big hills.

I need like a 3D-printed interference checker for the #tsdz2 and #bbs02 #eBikes motors, something that can span over the existing cranks and just center into the bolts, or at least the spindle, to check whether the motor body and stuff was going to collide with the bike frame before I remove the bottom bracket and maybe not get it back together the same after finding that the motor doesn't fit. Also if I didn't have one of each motor here to try, seems like there should be a thing.

#EBike/electronics Q: I got a light control module (LCM) for a #bafang #bbs02 that ties into the main harness and provides 2 wires for a rear light (which works with a wide variety of light voltages, but I'm using it at 6V), and a single wire for a brake light trigger. The voltage on the LCM brake trigger wire sits at 1.56V, & jumps to 3.3V when you depress a brake lever.

My rear light has 2 wires (+/-) for the brake light trigger. I connect positive to LCMโ€™s brake trigger wire, & get nothing..

Today another โค๏ธ for DIY Bafang mid-drive e-bike conversions.

For fun I bought the cheapest foldable bike from Amazon (*many* flaws but โ‚ฌ190) and put a 750W #Bafang motor in it. It was, indeed, fun, but also downright dangerous (poor brakes, etc.).

I just reprogrammed the motor with a special USB cable and my laptop to halve the power. The bike will do *many* trips to the shops on that battery now!

Next: a last-year's model Decathlon bike for touring.

I do have a gear shift sensor for the motor that briefly turns off motor power when I shift. I've heard mixed reviews about the #Alfine 8 - people saying they've ridden it thousands of km with #bafang mid-drive motors, others saying they killed it. But one of the cargo bikes I bought has a bafang mid-drive (#BBSHD, so more power/torque than the #BBS02) and a dead #Enviolo hub (N330, so not the burlier Enviolo Heavy Duty hub that I'd likely get).

Curious to hear from anyone who uses both hubs.

I don't think I've posted a full pic yet of my #Yuba #Kombi with #Bafang #BBS02 750W mid-drive motor installed. It's got a 48V 12Ah battery from #UnitPowerPack installed (form factor: #Hailong G56). So far I've ridden 45mi and the battery is at roughly 50%, so I'm expecting a comfortable range of 65-70mi per charge. #BikeTooter #ebike
