When a concert becomes a protest.
My piece for the Guardian on last night's Barbican concert, during which Simon Rattle spoke out against the appalling funding cuts to classical music in this country, and conducted Poulenc's Figure humaine with the BBC Singers, and Mahler Seven with the London Symphony Orchestra.

It is very good news that the #BBCSingers have been 'saved' - but now the fight must be on to prevent the cut-backs to the BBC's great orchestras.
Only today's BBC could appoint a so-called 'Head of Music' who knows the square root of F all about Classical music...
Too much good news. First #BBCSingers are given a reprieve after massive public and professional pressure.
