People leave the oddest things behind at our cottages. Today it’s 2 doses of insulin left in a 5-dose pack in the fridge…
I’d have thought that might be important.
Random email of the day: Southern NSW Local Health District informing me that as we supply *rainwater* for consumption at our guest cottages, we require signage to that effect at the cottages and a Quality Assurance Program (essentially a risk register) lodged with NSW Health.
I'm all for regulation and safety, but this seems a touch heavy-handed and unnecessary. It's rainwater stored in concrete tanks. It doesn't get much cleaner.
Anyway, here I am doing said Quality Assurance Program and ordering the approved signs.
Now they want us to do the cancellation at our end. I imagine they don’t want to pay the cancellation fee and processing fees they would get back if we did that. Not happening. We get penalties if we cancel a guest.
Sounds like a them problem.

Our accomodation listings for the guest cottages make it abundantly clear that we don't allow smoking indoors or outside anywhere on the property. There's still at least a couple of people a year who end up messaging us along the lines of “I didn’t read that bit but I'm not a chain smoker so is that okay with you?”
Today was that day.
They had already booked, so now I've given them an out to cancel. I await the cancellation.
What kind of arsehole cancels a person's work travel booking 4 days ahead of it starting?!
We just (good for our bank balance) took a 10-week booking for a contract nurse coming to work at the local hospital. She's travelling with her dog and her previously booked accommodation cancelled on her on short notice.
Making some exterior doors for the laundry at our large cottage. Merbau decking and construction pine will last a fuckload longer than the cedar slat doors that were there.
