On #ThisDayInHistory in 1177, #SalahAdDin (#Saladin) and his #Ayyubid sultanate suffered a rare defeat in the #BattleOfMontgisard. He was beaten by forces led by the 16-year-old leper king #BaldwinIV of the #KingdomOfJerusalem. The #Crusaders would hold Jerusalem ten more years.
