Yesterday a colleague said “I really like those trousers” and I thought I followed their eyes to a purple pair of jeans on sale, replying “yeah, nah, they’re not really my thing”.

They were talking about the trousers *I* was wearing, and I inadvertently shut off the compliment dead 🙄
