The Wild are missing their third-best defenseman. The #Avs have not had their third- or fourth-best defenseman in every game of this series, too (Manson for 3, Malinski for 1).

One team can’t afford to not play the crap out of its top pairing. The other team hasn’t had to.

This is the Catch-22 for the Wild in this series.

Quinn played 34 minutes last night. If this is minute 26 or 28 for him, maybe he’s able to step up there and make a play to keep the puck in.

Also, if that’s minute 26 or 28 for him … the #Avs might already be up 4-2.

#Avs Josh Manson fined for his penalty last night. Hopefully this will bring comfort to McCarron

Bad news for the Wild and other Stanley Cup contenders …

#Avs Martin Necas forechecked and played defense like a championship-level player last night. He’s finding his way in this tournament.

The days of questioning his playoff chops might be numbered.

Avalanche’s Martin Necas makes a statement in critical Game 4 victory over Wild

Martin Necas might never play like a moose, but the days of critics calling him a playoff mouse might be numbered.

The Denver Post

Martin Necas, just before the #Avs ENG:

- Sees Zucc wide open, tries to take away a shot-pass from Faber

- Goes from behind the net when Boldy gets it to chasing down a soft pass, making a move on Hughes and setting up MacKinnon for the game-ender.

That's the good stuff.

#Avs GM Chris MacFarland is one of the three finalists for GM of the year.

Minnesota’s Bill Guerin and Anaheim’s Pat Verbeek are the other finalists.

MacFarland has re-made this roster around the core guys over the past two years and turned the Avs into the Cup favorite.

#Avs Nathan MacKinnon said he thinks the puck was flat like a pancake when it hit him in the nose and mouth. Said he got lucky, didn’t need any stitches.

His coach … felt his pain.

Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon takes puck to face, exits Game 4 against Wild before returning

Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews, on the left side of the Avalanche net, tried to clear a puck that MacKinnon didn’t see until it hit him square in the nose. MacKinnon immediately dropped his stick and crumpled to the ice while covering his…

Danila Yurov scored a PPG last night for the Wild.

That said, shot attempts when Minnesota’s 2C was on the ice for 10:28 of 5v5 time?

#Avs 21, Wild 0. Not a typo.

It was 18-1 when Marcus Johansson, 2W, was on the ice.

The #Avs had a couple of late injury scratches. A double-minor to kill off. The shots were 20-4, but the score was 1-1.

This felt like a Dallas game from the past two playoffs. And then ... it wasn't. And now the Avs are in the driver's seat.

Depth guys take center stage, Avalanche fend off Wild to win Game 4 in Stanley Cup Playoffs

On a night where the shorthanded Colorado Avalanche desperately needed contributions from some of the other guys, they delivered.
