The top U.S. #intelligence ofcl on Mon warned that the #war in #Gaza could embolden #terrorist groups, which are aligned in their opposition to the #UnitedStates for its support of #Israel.

The Government Created a New Disinformation Office to Oversee All the Other Ones

Within the US federal government, offices dedicated to fighting foreign disinformation are springing up like daisies, from the Pentagon’s new Influence and Perception Management Office to at least 4 organizations inside DHS alone, as well as ones inside the FBI and State Department.

In testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday, Director of National Intelligence #AvrilHaines for the first time mentioned the creation of the Foreign Malign Influence Center, or FMIC.

The #FMIC is authorized to counter foreign #disinformation targeting not just US elections, but also “the public opinion within the United States” generally.

The center’s acting director, Jeffrey K. Wichman, is a former #CIA executive who previously served as chief of analysis for the agency’s Counterintelligence Mission Center.
