When you get down towards #AvilaBeach there are a couple of these cool truss bridges you can take of San Luis Obispo Creek (this looks like a big river, but it's just a tidal estuary; upstream it's really just a creek).
I've heard Avila is nice but I was just skirting it this time.
I'll check out Avila some other time.
(I suspect it's the kind of place where parking is scarce and pricey, so biking is definitely the way to do it).

I biked from #SLO down to #PismoBeach, which a slight detour almost to #AvilaBeach.
The City of #SanLuisObispo had good bike infra, even some bike lanes separated by concrete dividers.
Heading south out of town, you're riding on shoulders, but these roads are pretty quiet. They parallel the 101 and there's not much reason for anyone to drive here. Definitely more fellow-bikers out than cars (granted, it was a holiday weekend).
I met an all-woman riding group who identified themselves as "the chicks" (I see that this is part of the SLO Bike Club: https://slobc.org/rides/index.html).
The Pacific Coast Railroad ran right through here once; this road might be its ROW, or maybe it's under the 101.

Glamping at Avila Beach. Rain for the day thanks to an atmospheric river. But we’re hunkering down and the trailer is doing so well. It’s a puzzle, eat, read Vanity Fair, wine and movies day! There are some flood evacuation orders south of us but we’re ok for now. And #laundry is free so that’s getting done.

Avila Beach Pier

Just off oh Highway 101 where the highway meets the central coast of California is a little town of Avila. There's not much to the little town but what is there is cute and well worth the visit.
The fog that had blanketed Pismo Beach had tried to extend it's reach into Avila. This made for some interesting light as the sun was just starting it's retreat over the nearby cliffs.

Any recommendations on large group activities in and around #Pismo besides #PismoBeach and #AvilaBeach? We have some kids so can’t just spend time at #wineries. I know of #ATV but we may not be able to all do single rides. Anything else?
