Trending ACARS Drama is a special account that reposts the most widely liked/boosted posts: @trending
You can also consume ACARS Drama via RSS — details are on the website.
The more people who feed us, the more likely it is we’ll get interesting messages.
The ACARS Drama engine has deduplication logic, so if multiple feeds pick up the same message, it only gets posted once.
If you can’t feed us but want to support us, become a Jumpseat member: jumpseat.acarsdrama.com — in return, you’ll get insider access to our data. Great for #avgeeks.
In summary: ACARS Drama is a Mastodon-first, volunteer-run project giving you an interesting insight into what crap is going on above, so you know firsthand what pilots, flight attendants, and dispatchers have to put up with.
We hope you enjoy it!

It’s been a while, and we have quite a few new followers! Yay! Welcome! ✈️
So here’s a quick tour of ACARS Drama, and what it is. You can always find all this info at acarsdrama.com — you should check it out, not least because we’re very proud of the design.
ACARS messages are transmitted in the clear over VHF radio waves between passing aircraft and ground stations. They’re usually intended for airline operations control rooms, not ATC.
Most of the messages you see on ACARS Drama are air-to-ground, because they’re more easily captured, though sometimes you might see ground-to-air replies.
ACARS was originally designed in the 1970s as a mechanism for sharing OFF/OUT times, but like all tech, it has grown in functionality, and is now used more like SMS over VHF radio.

Just got back from an educational EAA chapter meeting out at a small private grass strip (Daniels Field) 12NM north of Eugene. After an endless burger BBQ, we moved to a hangar where a member has just finished the build of a Zenith 750 Cruzer.
What always blows me away is that while they call these "kitplanes" i.e., made from a kit, there is always a million things you still have to figure out on your own.
I am absolutely sure now I could NEVER build my own airplane.
