Getting started on "My Struggle" book 1 by Karl Ove Knausgaard (translated from Norwegian by Don Bartlett). I've read some, I'm maybe ~10% in, and it has pretty well captured me. The story and writing style that draws me in and eases me along.
It feels like a memoir. The publisher Macmillan's site uses the term "autobiographical novel". It is written like a novel, with quoted conversations and lots of detail, none of which would be possible to actually remember. But I wonder if the fictionalization goes beyond those invented details?
