I woke up with the words ‘a vision splendid’ - I had been dreaming of stars - and it took me a while for the words to find a place:
‘In the murmur of the breezes and the river on its bars,
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.’ (Clancy of the Overflow)
And I wondered, do they still teach poetry in Australian schools? Australian colonial poetry?
