Found an injured baby possum (nose to bum maybe 15-20cm) in daughters back garden earlier today. Possibly fallen out of a tree.

Had an injured back leg and bloody tail but was alert and hobbling. Managed to chuck a towel gently over it and get it into a box (it bit me in the process). Took it to the vet who later said they'd had to euthanase it.

Wondering if vets just do that anyway? Should i have tried RSPCA?
