Criminologists criticise Queensland premier's definition of crime victim

Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) victim numbers used nine selected offence categories, Crisafulli uses three offence categories.
“The premier previously vowed to quit if ABS victim numbers rose above 289,657, which he cited as evidence that Queensland was in the midst of a youth crime crisis.

“Under the premier's new definition, there were 150,316 victims of crime in 2023, not 289,657.”
