I don't always agree with Lidia Thorpe, but her protest at the King Chuck event definitely hit. (If you missed it - the British King and Queen have been invading our shores lately and there was a fancy reception last week).

It just hasn't been a priority for them for half a generation.

Michael SmartLater this week Australians are going to be asked to swear allegiance to an unelected hereditary billionaire "king" who lives on the other side of the world and neither sounds nor acts like the vast majority of us, and who makes no pretence about being there for England first. And to a "queen" who gets to be called that only because she is now with the man who carried out an extra-marital affair with her (not being called "queen consort" which is what previous convention dictated).
All of this in a "coronation" costing millions and which in reality is a religious ritual of the Church of England, to which fewer than 10% of Australians even nominally belong.
How can ANY Australian possibly support this?
