@TalesWyrd for those who've not heard of John, King of Scots, he's better known as John de Balliol. He's portrayed in many histories as something of a traitor, but in fact he fought hard to retain Scotland's independence, and the #AuldAlliance is a legacy of that. He ultimately lost out to the Bruce faction.
Sweetheart Abbey, and Balliol College, Oxford, were both founded in his memory.
His son Edward lived for about twenty years on the island in the bay here, claiming to be King of Scots.
Whoever wins at Murrayfield today, vive the Auld Alliance!
