In September 2025, the auDA Board appointed an external Policy Advisory Panel to undertake a review of the .au Licensing Rules (​​​​​the Rules). Following an initial public consultation phase (September 2025 to March 2026), the Panel has now released its Draft Report setting out recommendations for proposed changes to the Rules.

We invite .au members and stakeholders to provide their feedback on the Draft Report as part of this next phase of consultation.

You can share your views by attending one of the Panel-led consultation sessions, either online or in person:

In-person workshop (Melbourne) – Monday 6 July

Hey Mastodon! First time back in a bit as I've been taking an impromptu break from social media recently. I'm looking at purchasing a .id.au domain name and I've seen conflicting information online about whether or not street addresses are published in the WHOIS database. I'd prefer for people online to not be able to look up where I live, obviously.

If you've bought a .id.au domain please let me know what the behaviour is! Are street addresses hidden from the public, or can anybody look them up? And if the latter, is there any recommendation for how I can mitigate this? TIA!

Is anyone having problems with #Hover technical support?

I have an ongoing error with my domain with the TDL .id.au and they keep blaming #AuDa.org.au when it is appears to be DNS server related.

The technical support appears to be an LLM.

It’s a lot of fun that #auDA has started trawling through all .au domains to check eligibility (where by “a lot of fun” I mean “an enormous time sink and stress creator”).

Many long-standing businesses with domains that haven’t needed to be touched in 10+ years are suddenly finding their domains threatened with deletion because they’re old enough (20+ years) that they were registered by Melbourne IT/WebCentral with a registrant ID of 000000000 instead of the actual ABN/ACN.

Didn't think I'd be doing this again, but here we are.

#AuDA are pulling the same stunt with my radio club that they pulled with me 18 months ago, lodging a domain dispute and giving us saying the organisation is not eligible as at not-for-profit and giving us 14 days to prove otherwise.

This is despite:
1) Section 1.4 of their administration policy defining an NFP as an incorporated association.
2) Said club is an incorporated association.
3) Said club provided the incorporated association registration certificate when they applied for the domain.

Having resupplied the association certificate, I hope this is more straight forward than the last interaction I have had with AuDA.

Having said this, I wonder what the hell is going on at AuDA and if this is part of a data verification activity that this is a gross abuse of the dispute process.

A simple “hi, its been x years can we verify your details” would have been enough if that's all this is about.

Anyway, instead I am now going to find the complaints process to (try) and hold AuDA to account, because this behaviour just stinks.
