Last night I saw "macbitches", a play by Sophie McIntosh, at the Shakespeare Tavern. It was fabulous. Five women, all in the drama department at a college, have just gotten the cast list for the upcoming production of "Macbeth" and - surprisingly - the role of Lady Macbeth has gone to a freshman. What follows is a mixture of comedy and drama and violence that is familiar in this particular venue.

There are only two more performances - tonight and tomorrow night. It's on the small stage, so there aren't that many seats available. Don't miss is.

There are only two more performances of the Atlanta Shakespeare Company's production of "The Taming of the Shrew." ASC does a great job of taking plays with problematic story lines and making them work and this is no exception. And there are mistaken identities, suitors in disguise, a couple sneaking off to get married (a plot line that doesn't always lead to a good outcome, in Shakespeare), and great performances from the cast. But there are only two performances left, tonight and tomorrow afternoon, so you'll need to move quickly!

Last weekend we went to see the Atlanta Shakespeare Company's production of "Love's Labour's Lost" and it was great - we'd seen it when they did it in May and this was even better.
