Tried my hand at the Bally Basic tutorial. It doesn't take long to get used to the keypad for programming. Powerful for a game console of it's time. #astrocade #BallyAstrocade #basicprogramming

Entertaining Bits of the Arcade Manual of Wizard of Wor
Lots of arcade machines have boring manuals, full of schematics, operator settings and assembly instructions, and nothing else. The manual for Bally/Midway's Wizard of Wor machine has some other information, including a fairly complete play description including inner details of how the

Follies with having an adventure game on a second-generation console (the Astrocade) continue, with Treasures of Cathy by the same author as Bally's Alley. Now with graphics! And a creative solution to creating multiple rooms I've never seen before!

Treasures of Cathy (1982)

(This immediately follows my post on Bally’s Alley, which you ought to read before this one.) In 1982, John Collins started advertising — in the ads section of the Arcadian, as usual &#…

All the Adventures goes where it has never gone before: one of the second-generation consoles! Specifically the Bally Astrocade, which had a homebrew scene thanks to BASIC and its tape drive. Even without a keyboard someone really wanted to write an adventure game. It only was rescued from source two years ago, and parts of it are seen here for the first time:

Bally’s Alley (1980)

Of the consoles that launched in the US during the 70s, the Atari 2600 undoubtedly became the most famous, with the games still able to be re-packaged for sale in modern times; the Intellivision (1…

I have three game consoles that all need maintenance, so I can start FujiNet bring-ups on each. I have cerebral palsy, otherwise, I would just do all of the repair work, myself.

#Intellivision needs composite mod. Attached picture is as good of a picture as I can get out of either modulator position.

#Atari2600 needs fixing the composite mod. Attached picture is as good of a picture as I get out of it.

Bally #Astrocade is intermittently powering on due to faulty connection to power board.

If anyone can help, please message me. -Thom

Hello all, I'm from the #FujiNet project, #ESP32 based, which aims to put a WiFi network adapter on every #retrocomputing and #retrogaming platform.

With this device, we can not only stream software to our favorite vintage computing devices, but we can also engage in cross platform gaming and other software.

We are trying to maximize our reach by working through a generic 8-bit parallel bus protocol that could be used on anything with a card edge; to use an #RP2040 as a bus front-end. This way, we could reach #TRS80 #IBMPC #NES #SMS #Intellivision #Atari2600 #MSX #S100 #PC88 #PC98 #Astrocade and so much more.

I bought a #Bally #Astrocade. I wonder what I'm gonna do with it? :) #retrocomputing #retrogaming #fujinet.
I have now reached out to the Bally #Astrocade community to see if they would be interested in coming together for a bring-up of #FujiNet. #retrocomputing #retrogaming. https://groups.io/g/ballyalley/topic/fujinet_for_the/104872445

We still reckon the Bally Astrocade was the best of the 2nd generation video game consoles (sorry Atari)!
