We want the Government to do everything in its power to ensure that when bills are supported by MPs & the public, they have the time to complete all their stages in Parliament. We believe this is important to uphold democracy.
I see the Assisted Dying Bill looks almost certain not to become law.
This is a shame.
It is of course perfectly right and proper that the Lords should give the bill careful scrutiny and suggest improvements, but blocking it altogether against the wish of the elected Commons seems to me to be very bad form.

Disappointed to see the Lords looking like blocking the assisted dying bill altogether.
Don't think it's unconstitutional given that it's a private member's bill and we don't have a constitution anyway, but it still seems like bad form to over-ride the elected house like this.
They should absolutely suggest amendments, and I'd be amazed if they didn't for such a difficult and controversial bill, but not block it altogether.
