If I have say 200mA 5V draw one side of a regulator like a 7805, presumably that will equate to 200mA on the other side too.
So would that mean that for a 12V input the regulator is dissipating around (12 x 0.2) - (5 x 0.2) or the difference between 2.4W and 1W so losing around 1.4W as heat...
But for a 9V input it would be more like 0.8W.
Is that sort of how it works?
Completely unrelated, is there a simple way to remove all tracks leaving everything else still in the same places, in the KiCad pcb editor?
