As someone who occasionally gets paid to act, and has children who have occasionally been paid to act, it is very telling that in the last 15 years, there has been a decrease in the pay for acting jobs.

I got $2000 for a day of extras work on an ad in 2008. Now, even roles with speaking parts might only get $2000.
