Agi: Patti Smith suonerà al Circo Massimo a luglio

AGI - Patti Smith, dopo il successo del tour mondiale dello scorso anno per celebrare 'Horses', torna in Italia per un altro evento speciale: festeggiare insieme al pubblico italiano il suo 80esimo compleanno. L'appuntamento è previsto per il 27 luglio prossimo a Roma, al Circo Massimo. Il concerto è organizzato dal Teatro dell'Opera in collaborazione con Vincenzo Berti e Gianluca Bonanno per Ventidieci. Accompagnata dal Patti Smith Quartet, la cantautrice sarà affiancata dal tastierista e bassista Tony Shanahan, suo collaboratore da oltre trent'anni, e dal chitarrista Jackson Smith, figlio di Patti e da Seb Rochford alla batteria.
Tra i pezzi più celebri che verranno eseguiti non mancheranno 'Horses', 'Easter', 'Dancing Barefoot', 'People Have the Power' e 'Because the Night'.
Nata a Chicago il 30 dicembre 1946, Patti Smith è nota in tutti il mondo come interprete, autrice, artista discografica e visiva. Il suo primo album 'Horses', pubblicato nel '75, è stato inserito nel 2010 nel National Recording Registry della Biblioteca del Congresso dal National Recording Preservation Board. Nel 2005, la cantautrice è stata nominata commendatore dell'Ordine delle Arti e delle Lettere dal ministero della Cultura francese, anche per la sua rielaborazione dell'opera di Arthur Rimbaud e nel 2013 il Bryn Mawr College di Philadelphia le ha conferito la Katharine Hepburn Medal, riconoscimento riservato alle donne che con le loro vite contribuiscono a cambiare il mondo.

AGI - Patti Smith, following the success of last year’s world tour to celebrate ‘Horses’, is returning to Italy for another special event: to celebrate together with the Italian public her 80th birthday. The appointment is scheduled for July 27th next in Rome, at the Circus Maximus. The concert is organized by the Teatro dell’Opera in collaboration with Vincenzo Berti and Gianluca Bonanno for Ventidieci. Accompanied by the Patti Smith Quartet, the singer-songwriter will be accompanied by pianist and bassist Tony Shanahan, her collaborator for over thirty years, and guitarist Jackson Smith, son of Patti and Seb Rochford on drums.
Among the most famous pieces that will be performed will not be missing ‘Horses’, ‘Easter’, ‘Dancing Barefoot’, ‘People Have the Power’ and ‘Because the Night’.
Born in Chicago on December 30, 1946, Patti Smith is known worldwide as a performer, songwriter, record label and visual artist. Her first album ‘Horses’, published in 1975, was included in 2010 in the National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress by the National Recording Preservation Board. In 2005, the singer-songwriter was appointed commander of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture, also for her reworking of the work of Arthur Rimbaud and in 2013 the Bryn Mawr College of Philadelphia awarded her the Katharine Hepburn Medal, a recognition reserved for women who contribute to changing the world with their lives.
