[Note: I’m delighted to yet again be encouraging an “art show” that takes places on streets around the world—thanks to YOU! Please read and share this call, and #MakeArtMakeTrouble]

Call for “Art and Anarchy” across Distance

To celebrate the @anarchybookfair on October 18, 2025, we’re calling on people to physically share anarchist art on the streets of cities across the globe. It’s a way of embodying our love and solidarity for each other, and also illustrating quite literally that anarchism is still alive and well. Moreover, it’s a DIY way to create an Art and Anarchy exhibit anywhere and everywhere—and then we’ll share photos of your street art on our social media to coincide with this autumn’s bookfair.

The idea is simple. On or before October 18:

• Put up street art in public spaces—your own and/or others’ creations (bonus points for street art on the stolen lands of Tio’tia:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal)

• Take a photo(s), or get a friend to take pictures

• Post the photo(s) on Instagram and/or Facebook, or get friends to do it, with the hashtags #MTLAnarchistBookfair and #ArtAndAnarchy, and tag us, including the location, as general or specific as you want

• Send us your photo(s) at info {at} anarchistbookfair [dot] ca so we can then share them on our social media and website

Please spread the word far and wide. It would be so beautiful to see art and anarchism spread across borders and walls around the world, bringing us closer together.

Exposition de Tournesol Plante

Les Sans Taverne, Friday, July 4 at 05:00 PM EDT
