#RunBSD Recent obsession is about reusing #arm64 boards that sleep unplugged.. So today, here are two sets of notes regarding  #OpenBSD support.

Running on the #ODROID HC4 is pretty decent now. It already runs the DHCP, DNS and the WireGuard gateway. More is to come, if everything goes well.

Running on the #Raspberry Pi Zero 2W is fairly unstable as-of now.

Running OpenBSD 7.8 on ODROID HC4

Some times ago, I acquired an ODROID HC4 arm64 board and installed OpenBSD 7.2 on it. I used it for a moment but there were issues when running with two disks so I stopped using it. For $reasons, I took it out of its box and gave it another try using OpenBSD 7.8.

Notes for March 23–29

Work ate the week again. I’m exhausted, running on fumes, and daylight saving time stole an hour of sleep I could not afford–the biannual clock shuffle is one of those vestigial ab(...)

Got given six of these recently. Pondering some projects. They apparently can run Arch. Not sure about the I/O though - it's 1.8V so not sure what I can usefully do without fast shifters.

#FreeBSD #arm64 pkg builds are fast again!

Quarterly is shown in the image, but latest branch is pretty up-to-date as well.

Thanks to new cluster hardware and fixes in the pkg tool.

Cool cool #Microsoft.
Your MIDL tooling doesn't support #ARM64, so I can't build a COM-server with an ARM64 native binary, is that correct?
I have to use #ARM64EC, which isn't supported on Windows 10. Is that correct?

Google brings Chrome to Linux ARM64 devices 🧩.

Feels ironic. Most people switch to Linux for privacy and freedom — not to install a data‑harvesting browser from the company they’re escaping 🔒.

FreeBSD 15.0-RELEASE-p3 on ARM64 in QEMU:

― SDDM, pictured, is barely usable.

After login to Plasma (X11), resolution is limited to 800 x 600.

How can I avoid the issue with SDDM?

Host: Kubuntu 25.10, Virtual Machine Manager with Ramfb for video. Guest: non-base packages from the latest repos.

Not reproducible with FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT on ARM64 in QEMU on the same host.

#illumos on #ARM64 under #bhyve progress!

They’ve addressed a blocker on the illumos side but #FreeBSD needs some attention.

I’ll take a look but feel free to do the same if this interests you.
