#OnThisDay in 1878, Danvers State Hospital, opens; the psychiatric hospital in Massachusetts - also known as the State Lunatic Hospital at Danvers, The Danvers Lunatic Asylum, and The Danvers State Insane Asylum - later served as the influence for #ArkhamSanitorium in the writings of #HPLovecraft, which in turn inspired #ArkhamAsylum of D.C.'s #Batman universe. The hospital was also the setting for Brad Anderson's 2001 horror film, #Session9 and is featured in #HomeBeforeDark (1958).
