January 9, 2026, marked my three-year anniversary as Chief of Police here in Peterborough and we have seen a significant number of modernization initiatives completed, with many more underway.
- I would like to thank the Police Service Board for their unwavering support and continued guidance during this period.
- I would like to thank City Council for the three successive years of funding that have helped us to make up a lost decade, representing a 29.8% increase over those three years, with additional support for this fourth and final term of Council.
- Most importantly, I would like to thank all the men and women, both sworn and civilian, who work here for their steady commitment to public safety as calls for service have increased 8%.
Of course, criminal work only accounts for 20% of our total workload, but it is that 20% that most seriously impacts our community’s perception of safety.
The results:
- Number of Arrests increased 57% between 2023-2025
- Number of Charges increased 57% between 2023-2025
- Number of Drug Charges increased 106.8% between 2023-2025
As we begin 2026, we will be introducing additional tools and initiatives to combat crime in our community, and we will continue to build upon the more than 57% increase in arrests and charges from the past three years.
Does working for an innovative and forward-thinking organization inspire you?
