As a resident of the state, I'm not terribly surprised. CorpComm was fairly proactive under Gov Fallin about regulating wastewater injection wells, though that was primarily due to seismic events linked to these wells. Once Gov Stitt took over, the focus of the state quickly shifted toward "running the state like a business" and that meant impediments to "progress" or "revenue" were sidelined whenever possible. It was made crystal clear to state employees across all agencies that if you weren't on board with the governor's pro-business, move-fast-and-break-stuff agenda, you were a problem to be dealt with... So I'm not at all surprised the Source of Truth database got buried like that. #ImagineThat #AreWeTopTenYet

Toxic oil waste is increasingly shooting out of the ground in Oklahoma, contaminating the state’s drinking water. We found that regulators identified 2,000 problem wells in a 2021 report. Then they ignored their findings. https://www.propublica.org/article/oklahoma-injection-wells-oil-regulators-database?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mastodon-post #News #Oil #Gas #Environment #Oklahoma #Data #EPA #Regulation
