The foundation stone of the present church was laid on 7 September 1969 by Most Reverend John McCormack, DD, Bishop of Meath.

Inserted in foundation stone were a parchment scroll by Mother M. Carmel, Loreto Convent, Navan and signed by a number of the parishioners who worked to collect funds for the new church.
