King's Caves, Isle of Arran, has some amazing historic carvings, some potentially prehistoric but others early historic / medieval in date. The talented Marcus Abbott http://www.marcusabbott.org/Marcus_Abbott/Marcus_Abbott.html is undertaking laser scanning of the caves to create a record for better conservation management - unfortunately increased vandalism & climate change are a threat to these important remains.

Excavation of a small part of a 1 kilometer long Neolithic cursus monument has just been completed for another season on the Isle of Arran & established its remains are better preserved than first thought.

The project was delivered by archaeologist from University of Glasgow, Archaeology Scotland, and many other institutions, as student field training but also with participation of local volunteers.

#ArchaeologyScotland. The #StoneCircle of #Colmeallie in #Glenesk.
Well actually, a side valley from Glenesk with amazing views along the valley and (if you are quiet) some impressive birdlife).#megaliths #bronzeage, but I am open to offers on that one.
In July Archaeology Scotland teamed up with the CBA to launch the Scotland Online Young Archaeologists' Club (YAC), thanks to funding from Historic Environment Scotland.
We’re having a great time exploring Scotland’s archaeology with some amazing young people from across the country.
Read all about it in our blog post on the YAC website👇

Fantastic creative work by the Kelsae Archaeology Project team.
A youth led project with lots of lovely intergenerational interactions.
They researched and recorded historic buildings in Kelso, recreated them in clay, shared their findings with local care home residents, the local community and at the national Youth Work Conference.
Young people reported improved confidence and wellbeing.
