was looking for traces of the Progressive Musical Benevolent Society on jpress (historical NY mutual aid society for klezmer musicians) and coming up with nothing, but I did keep finding Arbeter Ring Musical Branch 615 ads & coverage in the late 1910s into the 1920s.👀 I don't completely understand its structure, did all A.R. branches also serve as mutual aid societies? Or is it possible this one was just a cultural org.?

The Workers Circle

My friend Zisl (who I was posting about lately) is teaching a #Yiddish song workshop through the Workers Circle this fall. When I follow through to the link I see there are also other Yiddish music courses being offered by Josh Horowitz (klez accordionist), Josh Waletzky (Yiddish songwriter), Polina Shepherd (UK based choral director and composer), etc. Check it out.
