Il Fatto Quotidiano: “Io nuovo ct? In Arabia vivo benissimo”: Simone Inzaghi dice no alla panchina della Nazionale

“Io nuovo commissario tecnico dell’Italia?

“Me as new national team coach? I’m doing very well in Saudi Arabia”: Simone Inzaghi says no to the national team bench.

“Me as the new coach of Italy? I’m flattered, but I don’t live well in Saudi Arabia; moreover, I have another year of contract with Al-Hilal.” Simone Inzaghi declines the opportunity to sit on the bench of the National Team. At least for the moment, after the departure of Gennaro Gattuso. The coach of Al Hilal – twice a finalist in the Champions League on the Inter bench – doesn’t regret having left Italy to try a new experience in a completely different reality, even from a sporting point of view. “In Saudi Arabia I found a fantastic situation from all points of view: the lifestyle, the sports infrastructure and not, the serenity that accompanies you even in a job that can be stressful like mine,” he told an interview to Libertà di Piacenza on his 50th birthday.

The former Inter coach then returned to the Italian National Team issue after the World Cup failure, with the Azzurri failing to qualify for the third consecutive edition: “I’m very sorry that Italy will not be at the World Cup for the third time in a row, I’m Italian to one hundred percent, my brother even won a World Cup. I’m absolutely sure that Italian football will recover soon.”

Inzaghi also explained the reasons for his departure: “Earning a lot is pleasant, it’s obvious (27 million net per year), but what pushed me here were other considerations, I didn’t need money, fortunately – Inzaghi continued -. The years at Inter were very satisfying from a professional point of view but also very stressful. I felt the need to relive football at the highest level, but disconnecting from a load of pressure that had become very heavy. Things are very different in Saudi Arabia.”
