In 1967 on #ThisDayInHistory, the #Apollo4 launch took place. This was the first test of the #SaturnV rocket that would successfully place humans on Luna/the moon. The massive #NASA rocket remains one of the most powerful and successful ever (unlike *cough* #Elon's #Starship).

This is an interesting documentary of the first #unmanned #flight of the #Apollo programme. From it, I learned that the reentry of the #CommandModule was done in two stages with an initial descent, followed by a partial ascent to cool off and then a final descent to the surface.
