Unlike other Ōhāriu candidates I know that every child deserves to learn about their own bodies and biology and what healthy relationships look like, in appropriate ways and at appropriate times, for their safety and others' safety, and sadly we cannot just "leave that to parents" - not if we care about gay kids, trans kids, non-binary kids, or abused kids. They deserve accurate information and the freedom to work these things out for themselves.

There was barely standing room when National Party leaders Christopher Luxon and Nicola Willis spoke in Alexandra last week. Mr Luxon’s assertion that spending $16 billion to build a storage dam at Lake Onslow, above Millers Flat, was an ‘‘insane idea’’ drew applause, as did many of his and deputy leader Ms Willis’ comments on [...]
Love to see Christopher Luxon slumming it in the fine working-class electorate of Ōhāriu, with the highest median income and second highest proportion of public servants (after Wellington Central, natch)
Seriously though Willis is GOING for this seat

"With COVID cases surging and more people in hospitals already stretched to breaking point, New Zealanders may have CERTAINTY in the fact we will do NOTHING about it" is not ... a great message
Labour have re-selected Greg O'Connor to stand in my electorate, yikes.
It's so bitter that a fairly progressive electorate - a top 10 for Green party vote - got saddled with a(nother) conservative MP after Dunne. Built a career advocating more armed cops on our streets, whose "high" point in Parliament to date is voting against abortion law reform
40,000 cases today and nearly 2,500 deaths total since this pandemic began, and the official response is so ... complacent. It's just unacceptable.
I understand that this could mean I am in a classroom with Non-Māori. but at least I am at a distance and don't have to physically be in their presence. so there is a level of safety for me here. I can detach if I need to. I can use the mute button if I need to. Also as a full-time caregiver for my mother, there aren't many options to learn Reo Māori from a distance.
