Profoundly laboring,
In the old familiar trough.
Yet, reaching out for random straws of hope.
Only to be found to be clutching at,
Endlessly fraying rope!
Dulled by the company,
Of the person one has become,
Knowing the man one used to be,
Was perhaps the better one!
