Yes, antlers are ExoSkeletons! The antlers most folks think of, the hard looking ones without velvet, are bone. When antlers are growing in, they’re a mix of bone, blood vessels, cartilage, tissue, skin/fur etc. In most non-equatorial deer, new antlers are annual.

Horns on the other hand only have a partial bone protrusion from the skull inside. They get their shapes, color, & texture from keratin (think finger-/toe-nails, for any humans on here).

An older antler’d deer just came by sniffing after the previous visitors. Blurry pic, but anyway, tis the season
