Today's photo silliness in the rapidly changing lighting conditions of my front yard (which I blame for the underexposure of the one image rather than my own sloppy metering). Surprisingly successful for slapping some Instax frames into the graflex film holders with a little 3d-printed bracket. Would certainly do again. Now to try actual film in this camera in the studio.

Finally got through cleaning, function-checking, and cataloguing a huge camera collection I fell into in the middle of last year. 131 cameras of all types made between 1900 and 2009. Some are in great shape, and some don't work at all (and a few probably never did).

After I photograph the collection more seriously, most will hit the market.

A photo from Raven's Nest at Schoodic Point in Acadia National Park, taken with a bit too much tilt on my 1850 Petzval lens (too much because it led to the vignetting).

190mm, f3.7, 1/50s, Ortho Litho film rated as ISO 6, developed in df96 monobath.

My most unexpected(ly successful) photo from a week in upstate New York. An antique sleigh in an old barn, lit by the gaps in the barn walls.

Shot with Voigtlander Petzval from 1850 on a 4x5 Speed Graphic camera.

190mm f3.7, 3 seconds, Ortho Litho film. Developed in df96 monobath.

Everyone has those old #FamilyPhotos of people we know are related somehow, but don’t know exactly who they’re supposed to be. #Genealogists have often found themselves questioning relatives in vain for hours, trying to get any kind of a name to put to the mystery subjects of old & faded #photos, to get any idea of when or where the photos were taken.

It can be incredibly frustrating!
But there is an easier way.

Even if you have no idea of which family line the photo comes from, you can often deduce what year the photo was taken; and by extension, who is in the photo… with just a little help from Google & the internet.

Here’s how…
