@rysiek @AnarchoDoggo @mart0 @cyronimose I recommend #AnonymousMessenger to many people and cannot understand why it's not more well known, it's fantastic.

It's P2P, using .tor .onion addresses with no email or identifying metadata

@bojkotiMalbona @startmail I use #snikket as well and I've had similar problems with #omemo unfortunately. Ever heard of #anonymousmessenger ?

I love it, uses Tor .onion addresses, not sure why it's not more popular.

Anonymous Messenger

@ademalsasa @ericphelps #session seems to be most reliable and feature complete and easy to get started for nontechnical people.

There is also #anonymousmessenger on #fdroid which is super solid and routes through #tor fully #p2p https://www.f-droid.org/packages/com.dx.anonymousmessenger/

Pour fêter l’arrivée de mon nouveau blog statique, voilà un article dédiée à une messagerie totalement chiffrée e2e passant dans #tor #anonymousmessenger sur

(echolib & Co)

Read through the source code of #AnonymousMessenger app and didn't find anything concerning. It uses the database encryption from the Android platform, so a dubious update could bork that, but then a dubious update could bork anything and everything.

Because this is p2p sender and receiver will have to be simultaneously online. But apart from that it seems like a good enough chat system using onion addresses. Preferable to Signal, but afaik Android only.

p.s. if you do try it, contacts must add each other before a successful key exchange can happen. If you're in meat space, you can scan the QR codes.

I just tried this messenger thanks to a discussion here on Mastodon ... thanks, I can't remember who suggested it.

It's a well-designed P2P messenger that uses Tor, no name, phone number, anything to use it ... awesome! I've been told battery usage is reasonable as well, guess I'll find out.

Has anyone else tried it? I'd love to hear any opinions.
